Sydney Roosters player Todd Carney burned a man after setting fire to his pants as a prank.[146]
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles players Steven Matai and Anthony Watmough were assaulted outside Matai's home.[147]
Melbourne Storm player Kevin Proctor was fined $400 in the Gold Coast Magistrates Court for behaving in a disorderly manner.[148]
Brisbane Broncos skills coach Allan Langer was photographed dancing on a table in his underwear in a public bar[149] and was subsequently charged with drink driving, after being three times the legal blood alcohol limit.[150] A court banned him from driving for eight months.[151]
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles player Tony Williams was charged with drink driving after blowing .106, twice the legal limit.[152]
Penrith Panthers players Maurice Blair and Brad Tighe were given police infringement notices for failing to leave licensed premises when asked and verbally abusing police.[153]
Sydney Roosters player Jake Friend was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing a prescription drug (valium) without permission.[154]
New South Wales assistant coach Andrew Johns resigned after Timana Tahu walked out on the team when Johns called Queensland player Greg Inglis a "black cunt". [155]
Canberra Raiders player Josh Dugan was arrested for negligent driving and driving while disqualified.[156]
North Queensland Cowboys player Johnathan Thurston was arrested and charged with public nuisance after an alcohol-related matter at Brisbane's Treasury Casino.[157]
Wests Tigers halfback Robert Lui was charged with nine offences, including assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.[158]
Canberra Raiders player Joel Monaghan admitted simulating a sex act with a dog, while heavily intoxicated.[159]
AFL PLAYERS
Hawthorn's Brent Renouf had skin grafts after accidentally being knocked into a fire on a Gold Coast beach.[203]
Richmond's Troy Taylor pleaded guilty to two counts of assault relating to an altercation which occurred in Alice Springs on New Years Eve. [204] [205]
Geelong's Mathew Stokes was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking of cocaine.[206] Stokes was suspended for eight matches and fined $5,000 for bringing the AFL into disrepute. He was cleared of the trafficking charge, but was placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond and fined $3,000 on the possession charge.
Richmond players engaged in a brawl after a lengthy drinking session and damaged the team's hotel after the team's loss to the Sydney Swans in Round 3. The instigator, Daniel Connors, was suspended for eight matches, while Ben Cousins, Luke McGuane and Dean Polo were each suspended for one match for their role in the incident.[207]
Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse abused St. Kilda's Stephen Milne in a fiery quarter-time confrontation between St. Kilda players and Collingwood coaching staff which was broken up by the umpires.[208] Malthouse apologized for the incident, and was fined $7,500; Milne and Collingwood assistant coach Paul Licuria were fined $3,000 each.
Following an AFL investigation into gambling on a 2010 NAB Cup semi-final and the 2009 AFL Grand Final, six officials were named for breaching the AFL anti-gambling code. The officials named are goal umpire Chris Appleton, interchange stewards Wayne Siekman and John Wise (suspended for the remainder of the season (20 matches)), timekeeper Matthew Hollington (suspended for five matches), Port Adelaide assistant coach Matthew Primus (suspended for two matches), and Western Bulldogs director Geoff Walsh (fined $7,500).[209]
Collingwood defender Simon Buckley keyed the side of his former girlfriend's car, causing $5,000 damage, after a nasty breakup. He was suspended for three matches, and agreed to pay for the damage and undergo counselling.[210]

West Coast Eagles player Chris Masten was punched in the mouth and teammate Will Schofield was forced to apologise to a woman he verbally abused after an alcohol-fuelled night out. [240]
Brad Jones, the father of Melbourne player Nathan Jones, told a court he was attacked by an abusive spectator after asking him to stop swearing. [241]
Sam Newman held up a photo of a 107-year-old Malaysian woman on The Footy Show and called her new husband a "monkey". [242]
