Minecraft / How do I Ban / Unban players?
« Last post by sirjorge on 15 October 2024, 21:21:00 »
Minecraft has 2 ways to prevent unwanted players from joining the server. (This applies to both Java and Bedrock editions)

You can either use the whitelist feature which locks the server and prevents all players from joining except those who are on the whitelist. (Recommended for private servers such as family and friends)
Or
You can leave whitelist off which will allow anyone to join unless they are on the ban list.

To add/remove players from the Ban list, you can by either:
a) Using the "Ops and Whitelist" section of the server control panel settings and going into the "Banned" tab.
or
b) Using the "Console" section and typing the command:
Ban: ban <playername> [reason]
Unban: pardon <playername>

You should note that if your server.properties setting has online-mode set to false, both the whitelist and ban features are deemed unfunctional.

Minecraft / How to use a seed or find out what seed I currently have?
« Last post by crazy on 29 September 2024, 16:05:41 »
A Minecraft seed is a code used to generate a specific world in the game. Entering a seed when creating a new world allows you to recreate the same terrain, biomes, and structures every time. Seeds can be numbers or text, and each seed produces a unique world layout.

How to set a seed for your Minecraft server::

Quick Method
You can do this via the Control panel in Express settings section. Look for World Seed ID and type in the new seed there. You should also change the  World Name too so that a new world is generated with the new seed. Don't forget to press  Apply and restart server.

Manual Method
  • Locate server.properties: Find and open the server.properties file (You can do this via the File Manager section of the control panel)
  • Set the seed: Look for the line that says level-seed= and enter your desired seed after the equals sign (e.g., level-seed=12345).
  • Set the world: Look for the line that says level-name= and enter a new world name of your choosing
  • Save and restart the server: Save the file, then restart the server for the seed to take effect.

When the server restarts, it will generate a new world based on the seed you've entered.

Changing a seed on an existing world is not possible. So thats why you will need to enter a new world name every time you want to use a new seed.

How to find the current seed on a server:
You can go to the Console section of the control panel and type the command: seed
It will then tell you the seed ID of the currently active world.
